More data to prove United Airlines Sucks

November 17, 2011

It’s great to be upgraded automatically after you’ve flown over million miles on an airline. Here is the email I was sent for my leg to Denver on my way to Portland.

You've been upgraded. No wait, no you haven't!

But when it came time to get a boarding pass…no seat for you! At least the economy seat I ended up in was OK. But let the record show that United continues their amazing streak of buggy flights and disappointing a once loyal customer. Over 30 flights this year (not sure how many legs) and I only remember one that was bug free.

And then…on the way back from Portland we boarded another ancient 757 to be informed that the backup battery was broken. Maintenance is on here now fixing it. I am so glad that this is my last flight of the year on United that I can’t even begin to tell you.

Hey Jeff Smisek, stop bragging about painting your planes and get a handle on your airline operations please. The cool thing is it will be easy for United to be better in 2012…the bar is very low.

Bottom line? It’s official…United airlines sucks in 2011. Worst year for United in all of my many years of flying too much.

United just sent me an email….

“I have to agree with your assessment that the year 2011 has not ended as smoothly as we would have wished for a loyal Million Mile 1K. It is helpful to have your insight that a Web appreciation offer of a $250 electronic travel certificate is inadequate to meet your expectations when you have paid airfare as high as USD7,000.00

Broken in-flight entertainment system on Flight 975 on October 29, 2011- 9K miles
Operational Irregularity on at IAD November 08, 2011 – 9K miles
Missed connection IAD to LAX on November 08, 2011 – 10K miles from Rich Martin.”

Righto. Still not satisfied. I do hope they get things fixed before I fly again in January.

A new development. Further conversation with Customer Solutions agent Sara Dornacker is resulting in compensation for the LA hotel room. That’s more like it. Thanks!

I still hope that 2012 is better for United. Should be easy.

A check from United did arrive in late December. I must say I would rather have an eventless flight than money as compensation for a broken one. But let the record show that United did set the IAD->LAX situation right.

  6. […] so that was good. But United is doing nothing to make me enjoy flying. Will 2012 be any better than 2011? We’ll have to wait and see…but so far the tea leaves are not […]
