Skamania Lodge, Columbia River, Washington = Fantastic Location for a Meeting
May 2, 2014
I’ve been to Skamania Lodge 5 or 6 times always for meetings. This time we’re hosting a meeting with people from all over the place. One of the benefits of meeting here is the Lodge itself is tucked away about an hour from Portland and just far enough from everything. It’s a great place to get stuff done.
We did have some musical chairs issues with room assignments this time. Make sure that you request a room with a river view here. And if you’re hosting a meeting, make sure that your meeting rooms face the river as well. Sending advance troops to scope is advised.
I was originally assigned room 492—a suite positioned at the very back of the building facing the wrong way. After having been in 421 for the previous meeting run, 492 is just not right. Get 421.
So I got switched to 441. Not a suite, but a nice room with a view.
441 is standard issue river facing room.
The shower issue persists at Skamania. Like we’ve said before, come here for meetings but not for showers.
A classic plastic shower over a tub.
If you get out of the lodge, there are some beautiful little trails that loop around. It’s easy to walk a couple of miles in between events.
Food is good in the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but passable. The views from the restaurant are phenomenal. The River Rock bar has undergone vast improvement over the last few years. Some interesting (and local) liquors are available including a couple of nice bourbons and an aromatic (and blue glowy) gin. There is plenty of good beer to be had as well.
Skamania remains a very low four shower head (or maybe a very high three shower head place). A superb place for a meeting.
